Forty-five interviewed music photographers, 16 venues, events and festivals, one iPhone. “A Year in the Pit” which made its West Coast debut at the Culver City Film Festival, captures the joy and challenges that go unseen behind the photos fans love to see. The film combines deep coast-to-coast interviews with some of the most recognized photographers in the business, a plunge into their archives and on the ground footage from regional roots music festivals that puts the viewer right in the pit. Jim Brock Photography’s contribution was shot at Mr. Musichead Gallery, scene of the emblematic Just Jazz concert series and showcases much of JBP’s best jazz work of recent years, as well as a broader taste of other iconic images. “A Year in the Pit” will be presenting at a number of film festivals in 2022, and details will be posted here as they become available. In the meantime, check out the trailer and stay tuned for a limited online viewing window very soon.
