“The Jazz Omnibus: 21st Century Photos and Writings”, released by Cymbal Press, is a huge anthology from over 90 contributors of the Jazz Journalists Association. While the book totals over 600 pages and the depth of writing and subjects is manna for any jazz fan, only 23 photos were selected by the JJA for inclusion, of which Jim Brock Photography provided two. Critic and biographer (and NEA Jazz Master in 2025) hails the book as “the most entertaining, illuminating anthology of its kind to appear in this century. It honors the ongoing liveliness of jazz and its devoted commentariat…Almost every facet of jazz writing is represented…”. Ricky Riccardi, Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House and Musem (and Grammy winning author) notes that “Jazz is experiencing something of a new golden age. As the Jazz Omnibus makes clear, the same can be said for the state of jazz journalism.”

Proud and humbled that my work met the highest standards of the JJA for this very special project. The Jazz Omnibus is available now in paperback and hard cover.
