Bluegrass Situation Dispatch – Photographs From the First Annual Los Angeles Folk Festival, Hosted By the Milk Carton Kids

The Bluegrass Situation recently tapped Jim Brock Photography for coverage of the first annual Los Angeles Folk Festival. Held at The Ford Amphitheatre, one of the gem venues of the city, Sunday featured the guitars and voices of Willie Watson, Haley Heynderickx, those irrepressible Kids and Waxahatchee. Throw in a few tunes from newcomer Charlie Hickey, the deadpan strumming of Nick Thune, and host John C. Reilly being John C. Reilly, and for a few hours, those chords and harmonies were an emotional refuge from a pretty messed up moment we’re going through.
